:
This value represents the total width of all auxiliary lanes in the primary or secondary direction of travel. Auxiliary lanes are generally located to the right of the through lanes, and include right-turn lanes, acceleration/deceleration lanes and climbing lanes. Segment breaks are made at the start point for auxiliary lanes where the roadway completes its taper and the vehicle has full use of the lane and at the end point where the return roadway width taper begins. If an auxiliary lane begins or ends at a ramp, the starting and ending reference point measurements should be taken where the roadway striping changes from a solid to a dashed line. No additional segment breaks are needed to specify the beginning or ending point of an auxiliary lane if it originates or terminates at an intersection or access point. Only enter the bike lane width as part of the auxiliary lane width if the bike lane is located between the through lanes and the auxiliary lanes, as is sometimes the case at intersections where a right turn lane forms to the right of the bike lane.
Input: Numeric in whole feet, default = 0 feet
• The auxiliary lane width is measured from the edge of the through lanes to the edge of the
shoulder, if present, or edge of roadway if not.
• Any width striped as no-vehicle travel is to be included in this width.
