:
This value describes the presence of sound wall structures adjacent to the roadway segment. Sound walls are tall, solid walls that are intended to reduce the noise generated by the roadway and are located directly adjacent to the roadway beyond the outside shoulder. Tall fence tructures that lie outside of the CDOT right-of-way are not included in this category. Sound walls should be detailed in existing roadway segments whenever they are continuous over at least 50-percent of the roadway segment. Segment reaks specifically for sound walls should be limited to locations where they represent a significant change to the roadway characteristics, or where they cannot be adequately described in terms of existing roadway segments.
