:
This value represents the total width of all left-turn lanes associated with the primary or secondary direction of travel. Left-turn lanes are typically located in the median of the roadway and can include both left-turn deceleration/storage lanes and leftturn
acceleration lanes. Segment breaks are made at the start point for left-turn lanes where the roadway completes its taper and the vehicle has full use of the lane(s) and at the end point where the return roadway width taper begins. No additional segment breaks are needed to specify the beginning or ending point of a left turn lane if it originates or terminates at an intersection or access point. Two-way left-turn lanes (TWLTL) are coded as a median type and are not quantified as left-turn lanes, even though directional left-turn lanes may be striped within them for intersections or other access locations.
